Sales Targets will always exist.

Companies will always look for “STAR SALESMEN”

The ability to make a difficult thing look simple defines you as a STAR

Let me share with you quick ways of achieving your targets, and making you a “STAR”

  1. Define Your Target: Your targets are a simple instruction of what is expected of you to deliver. It could be volumes, it could be required tasks, it could be anything. First things First, Understand the target.

  1. Believe in The Target: Our belief system varies. A lot of us believe that the targets can never be achieved. (This needs to be corrected) Salesmen are likened to Sports Men/ Athletes. Targets are meant to stretch you into growth. Growth is a continuous phase. If we stop growing, we begin to shrink. You need to sell the target to yourself, if you can buy it, everyone else can too. You are your most difficult customer.

  1. Develop a Strategy for Yourself: Most Salesmen are assumed to be dumb, this is a wrong perception. You have defined the Target, develop an action plan/Strategy for yourself on how you want to achieve this goal/Target. Salesmen get bored easily, but if the challenge is a worthwhile cause, they do deliver. Let your strategy work for you. If you are leading a team, let your team develop their strategy. I understand Marketing/Brand Management is necessary, however The Sales teams deliver the numbers, Sales Strategy should be a synergy.

  1. Believe in Yourself: If you are not your number 1 Fan, you cannot succeed in Sales. Salesmen are required to be thick skinned because, you need to dig deep to achieve conquests. To keep going, you need to believe in yourself.

  1. Reward Yourself:  Celebrate yourself when you achieve your targets, this saves you from burning out.

Tony was very excited; he had just landed his first professional sales role.

On his first day at the company, the sales manager took him up on to the roof of the building and said, "I am going to give you your very first lesson in sales. Stand on the edge of the roof."

Reluctantly, the new salesman moved closer and closer to the edge of the roof.

"Now," said the sales manager, "when I say, 'jump!' I want you to jump off the roof."

"But, sir," protested the green sales recruit, "there's a huge drop!"

"Do you want to succeed in sales?" said the sales manager."

"YES"

"And you trust me, don't you?"

"Yes, I guess."

"So do as I say and jump."

Tony jumped. He crashed to the ground and lay there, winded and bruised. His sales manager went racing down the stairs towards him.

"That was your first lesson in sales, Tony. Never trust anyone in business!"

Live your dream Being Successful is relative; relative is a word that strikes my mind because we define what success is. When things are finally looking up, you have nagging thoughts “will this success stay forever? I hope I will not fail again, I hope this is finally it!” happens to me . Candidly, we were born to create, control and rule, we have this natural instinct to want more things, grow from phase to phase, different things, but one thing that is constant is the fact we need to move forward. Success is achieving set goals, goals are not tasks, they are what you want to achieve at a point in time, and the goal has to be timed. We finally achieve the goal, which is success, and you reward yourself, and it does not feel as you imagined it will be, maybe you have poured yourself into the mould that you have lost a number of relationships, you have been too hard on yourself, you never enjoyed your path to success, you have a feeling of emptiness, Success is not meant to feel wrong! ...

Science of Successful.

Becoming Successful is never dependent of your location, the kind of job or profession, neither is it about the way you look, or the kind of family you come from. I have spent a great part of my life in Nigeria and I got a lot of things wrong,  yes I do love Nigeria but I can honestly say that I was not happy with the infrastructure, lifestyle of my neighborhood, Schools I had gone to, just to list a few. My career has been dynamic,  my formative years  at a pharmaceutical Company gave me a strong foundation. I have been opportuned to be part of various projects, I have driven volumes for my respective territories or Area. During the last election, I preached the gospel of APC  because of Babatunde Raji Fashola . Lagos had transformed from a slum to a city I am proud of as a Nigerian, Lagos state should be a model we can repeat Nationwide. One phrase that rings in my ears, Entrepreneurship!. Being an Entrepreneur in Nigeria is scary, especially if you went to a Nigerian University. Rea...
